Slidell Reunion October 16 & 17, 2010
For more information about the Brick Walkway and memorial brick purchase, click here
Remember, the day you first set foot in Slidell, La., in autumn 2005? You worked 14-18 hours a day walking dogs, cleaning cages, helping unload incoming trucks with supplies, assisting at the check-in table, and changing shirts several times daily in the intense humidity?
Old Animal Control Shelter Remember this?

Or how about this?
We came from throughout the United States and Canada to save and care for the animals and assist in reuniting them with their owners. This meant caring for over 1,900 of them in the make-shift shelter following Hurricane Katrina and in the midst of Hurricane Rita. But through the process we built new friendships with others of like interests and priorities from across the continent.
And now it’s time to resurrect those acquaintances, see the city in a new and refreshing context and bring some closure to one of this country’s major disasters.
Noah’s Wish is planning a five-year reunion for all convergent and trained volunteers , coordinators and board members Oct. 16-17 and wants you to come.
No dog walking, no cleaning cages this time. You’ll get to see the city’s new shelter that Noah’s Wish funds helped build, meet the staff and some of the city’s townspeople who helped with volunteer efforts, too.
- Reunion hours for Saturday, Oct. 16 are 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
- This will include opening remarks by city, animal-control and Noah’s Wish officials.
- Group activities, games, stories and seeing old friends will be the focus of Saturday’s more structured lineup. There
will be a memory book and photos from our Katrina/Rita experience along with a video presentation. We would like to
hear about your Katrina/Rita volunteer stint and how it impacted your life. Please e-mail your story and photos
to info@noahswish.info
- Lunch is planned for Saturday and a local band will be on hand for the festivities.
The new shelter will be open for tours both Saturday and Sunday. This will be a chance to resurrect friendships with the staff and discuss how they transitioned from the makeshift shelter of 2005 to temporary quarters and finally the new facility, which opened in May.

Out with old and in with the new!
The Noah’s Wish board of directors and coordinators will meet Saturday evening but will be available to greet volunteers and answer questions both days.
A planning committee is working on arranging tours Sunday, Oct. 17 of Slidell and New Orleans. Noah’s Wish will provide tour information and determine a show of interest. If there is enough interest, we will help facilitate arrangements. We will also offer information on area motels, i.e. costs and location. If you are interested in sharing a ride to and from the airport or a room, please contact June Gravitte at dawgnut@hotmail.com
Plans also call for the sale of specially designed T-shirts and coffee cups of this memorable event.
If you would like more information or want to reserve a spot for this special event, please contact Noah’s Wish at info@noahswish.info or phone 916-939-9474
