Firefighters continue to make progress on both fires in Kern County yesterday. Evacuation orders for the Bull Fire were lifted yesterday afternoon. Contact with county animal control officer Guy Shaw indicated that there had been no increase in the number of animals under their care, but if the situation deteriorated they would be in contact with Noah'sWish for assistance.

Noah's Wish has been made aware of a couple of wildland fires in British Columbia and is making contact with local emergency personnel to see if they are in need of help.

Noah's Wish continues to monitor fires burning in Kern County, California. Yesterday afternoon another fire broke out in Kern County, this was named the West Fire; both fires have forced evacuations of residents. We have contacted emergency personnel in both instances and are waiting their decision regarding assistance with animals displaced by the fires. Headcounts at emergency people shelters yesterday were minimal with 3 people at the Lake Isabella Senior Center for the Bull fire and 10 people registered with the Red Cross to stay overnight for the West Fire. Noah's Wish will continue to monitor these fires and provide periodic updates.

Noah's Wish is currently monitoring The Bull Fire in Kern County, California. The fire started Monday and burning out of control in the Sequoia National Forest and threatening the remote community of Riverkern. Residents have been evacuated from Riverkern and a shelter opened at the Lake Isadora Senior Center. Contact has been made with local emergency management authorities. More information as it becomes available.
July 26, 2010 - 6:30 PDT - Closed. Emergency officials in Iowa have lifted the evacuation orders and residents are returning to their homes - no animal incidents were reported.

Noah's Wish is monitoring the dam failure in North East Iowa. There are approximately 700 homes evacuated, Regional Coordinators are currently assessing the situation.
Gulf Coast oil spill - Noah's Wish is aware of the situation in the Gulf Coast and is monitoring ongoing events. Noah's Wish has learned that to be able to deploy to any of the four states involved in wildlife rehabilitation you must possess a state or federal wildlife rehabilitation certification or license, plus FEMA ICS courses.
